Gets a five star because the information is really useful. But the text is hand written and the fount size varies. This drives me nuts when trying to read it. Very useful good book though
Haven’t read it yet but I was suggested this book by afew professional glass blowers. Bought it used and it definitely looks used but it’s good for the most part. There was some food crumbs still inside the book! Can’t wait to read it though!
Great price and great product
It's like Ed sat down across from me and chatted rather than speaking from a page. Ed is my teacher when I can't get into the actual hot shop. Glassworking can be expensive to learn, not to mention difficult if you aren't fortunate to have access to hot shops or instructors. I'm taking classes when I can, but I've also try to read and practice at home. This book is essential to my learning.Thank you thank you thank you Edward T. Schmid for taking the time to handwrite two bibles on Glassworking.
This is a great reference book for those learning. the art of glass-blowing, like the person to whom I gave it as a gift. She asked for it for her birthday and was very glad to get it.
The secrets of furnace glasswork have been unlocked to me. I have become powerful with this previously-forbidden knowledge.The entirety of the book is hand-written with a few typos, but largely very accurate.
This is a great reference for a wide range of glassblowing techniques. The style is quirky, but the author packs a lot of information into one book that's very handy to keep next to a glassblowing bench. I particularly enjoyed some of the notes he made on solo glassblowing, though he concentrated on working with (and as) an assistant.
Everything is handwritten and sketches are hand drawn in black and white. The book is really a piece of art in itself. The commentary, techniques and writing style are all very useful and enjoyable.
